FCC Plans to Text You Emergency Alerts

new22.jpgThe Federal Communications Commission recently approved a text message emergency system. The FCC plans to use cell phones to quickly alert you in case of a disaster.

T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, and AT & T are willing to help send a text message.  The messages will alert you in case of tornadoes, amber alert, terrorism, or any imminent danger.

A federal agency has yet to be appointed for this project. Once it is established participating phone companies will have about 10 months to meet the agency’s requirements.
