US singer Rimes has leg surgery
US country star LeAnn Rimes is said to be “fine” after undergoing surgery for a leg infection in Los Angeles.According to her official website, the 23-year-old singer suffered a “tear in the tissue of her leg that had become seriously infected”.
The surgery was described as “minor” - although it did necessitate the cancellation of three concerts.
Rimes’ spokeswoman said she was “doing just fine” and would rest for a few days before resuming her tour duties.
She is scheduled to return to the stage on 19 July at the Country Thunder USA festival in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin.
The cancelled dates in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire and Niagara Falls, Ontario will now take place at the end of September.
Born in Jackson, Mississippi in August 1982, Rimes had her first US hit in 1996 at the age of 13, after which she won two Grammy awards.
Her latest album, This Woman, has produced four hit singles to date, including recent country chart-topper Something’s Gotta Give.
