Sir Sean heads up film festival
Edinburgh’s 60th International Film Festival is set to be launched with organisers hinting it will feature violence and extreme sexual content. The event, the world’s longest, continually-running film festival, is known for screening bold and controversial films.
This year’s main attraction will be Sir Sean Connery whose 1967 film The Bowler and the Bunnet will be shown.
He will be taking questions from the public after the screening.
Sir Sean recently cancelled his planned appearance at Edinburgh’s Festival of Politics.
He said this was due to comments made by George Reid, Holyrood’s presiding officer, who said he would question the actor over claims he had defended the occasional need to slap a woman.
The film festival normally runs for 12 days but in honour of its 60th year, will this year run from 14-27 August.
