HeadScratcher No. 48: Degrees of Dave Chappelle

chappelleSo what do Cary Elwes, Tom Hanks, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci, and Jon Stewart have in common? It’s Dave Chappelle, bitch. –Katy Hollenbaugh

Thanks for putting it so bluntly, Katy! To coincide with last night’s debut of Chappelle’s Show: The Lost Episodes on Comedy Central, all the folks on our list have co-starred with Dave: Elwes in Robin Hood: Men in Tights; Tom Hanks in You’ve Got Mail; Neil Patrick Harris in Undercover Brother; Christina Ricci in 200 Cigarettes; and Jon Stewart in Half-Baked.

That was the answer we were looking for, anyway. Of the handful who sent in responses this week, more than half of you gave another, technically correct answer…

The actors on our list also have provided voices for animated movies: Christina Ricci had a small part in Small Soldiers; Tom Hanks did the Toy Story movies and The Polar Express; Cary Elwes lent his pipes to Quest for Camelot; Neil Patrick Harris was Peter Parker in TV’s Spider-Man: The New Animated Series; and Jon Stewart’s career somehow survived Doogal.

But I have a couple bones to pick with this answer. First, it’s not all that specific — these days, who hasn’t done voiceover work? Second, Harris doesn’t quite fit with the others, as his Spidey was on TV and not the big screen (and we generally try to stick to the same medium).

But whatever — I’m feeling generous today. So, first up, those who gave the correct Dave Chappelle answer:

Walter Gomez
The aforementioned Katy Hollenbaugh
G. Thomas Smith
Michael Tenney
Patrick A. Yearout

And those who took the animated angle:
Charles Adams
Brian Di Leandro
Will Dyson
Chris Parcels
Thais Quaresma
Joel Slaton
Jarett Wieselman

Come back on Friday for a new question — Mickey will be back with that answer, and he probably won’t be as easy on ya.
