Tinnos Blufin PMP/PDA to Become a Reality

Tinnos Blufin PMP/PDA to Become a RealityA combination of a rough translation from the company product page and a brief technical description on Engadget.com leads us to believe that the Tinnos Blufin portable media player/personal digital assistant will become a reality from a prototype.

The company website lists a number of details relating to the specifications of the Blufin device. The Blufin will run Windows CE 5.0 on a 4.3-inch 16:9 TFT color LCD. It will have a 30GB hard drive, a USB 2.0 interface, a 3.4mm stereo audio jack, and a 2.0 megapixel digital camera which can take snapshots from 40cm distance and beyond. The device also looks like it will have an FM tuner.

The Blufin will also be able to play WMV9 and DivX video files and also WMA and MP3 audio files. A Japanese news site also hints at SDIO capability for expanding device functionality with GPS or WiFi as well as 802.11b wireless capabilities. Additionally, the website lists 128MB of DDR2 SDRAM and the hard drive being a 4,200RPM 1.8-inch drive. Engadget is also reporting that the Blufin PMP will be powered by AMD’s Alchemy Au1200 processor at either 333, 400, or 500MHz.

Pricing on the Tinnos Blufin is said to be around $600 which seems somewhat reasonable since it does run Windows and has the ability to handle SDIO expansions. Portable media players such as those from Creative Labs can be had for half the price but with a little less functionality.
