Dell Unveils Renegade Gaming PC

Dell Unveils Renegade Gaming PCAt the ongoing International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2006, Dell introduced the XPS 600 Renegade to its existing XPS series for gaming enthusiasts. The XPS 600 Renegade is a special, limited-edition configuration, which according to Dell, breaks the XPS mould in many ways.

An ultra high-end computer, Renegade is colorfully air-brushed, containing 4 graphics processing units (GPUs) to enrich the PC gaming experience. Michael Dell, chairman, Dell, says that XPS 600 Renegade is capable of providing 3 times the resolution of Xbox high-definition games.

Designed as a new version of Dell’s current XPS 600, Renegade sports a flaming red colour on the outside, and on the inside - features such as dual-core Pentium 4 Extreme Edition CPU; mode 955, over-clocked from the factory to as much as 4.26GHz; standard hard drive configuration of two 10,000 RPM 150GB Raptor drives; and standard XPS 600 cooling system.

XPS 600 Renegade also features 4 GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB graphics cards (quad graphics), clocking speeds slightly lower than standard 7800 GTX 512MB cards, but higher than 256MB cards; 2 of the cards are plugged into 2 x16 PCIe graphics slots, in the nForce 4 based custom Dell motherboard.

In addition, Renegade incorporates a Western Digital Raptor 150GB; 10,000RPM SATA drive; and a pair of Western Digital 250GB 7,200 RPM drives configured as either RAID 0 or 1.

Dell’s new system will probably ship in Q1 2006; for prices maybe in the range of $4,000 to 7,000 plus, depending on display and other options.
