ATI Launches New Video Card
ATI Technologies has announced the All-In-Wonder 2006 PCI Express Edition. This new multi-function video card offers consumers an easy choice when it comes to playing great games, listening to FM radio, and watching/recording/pausing live TV.
All-In-Wonder 2006 PCI Express Edition according to company sources, offers budget-minded consumers an affordable multimedia card with Avivo for good video playback, color resolution and connectivity to big screen displays. Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 which helps edit professional style videos is bundled with the product, which is powered by Radeon X1300.
Mike Kreiten, product marketing manager - multimedia, ATI Technologies
(Europe), said, “India is obviously a very price-sensitive market. The
AiW 2006 PCIe is X1k graphics, DVB-T plus analog plus FM hybrid tuner, MCE 2005 compliant, covers most elements of Avivo. The goal of having this unified card is not to save money compared to the combination of graphics plus a TV card; rather insure quality, compatibility, easy
installation and a most complete software suite. It comes for a still
attractive price point, considering it is a hybrid multimedia solution and the Adobe Premiere software bundle.”
All-In-Wonder 2006 for PCI Express features Radeon X1300 graphics.
Based on advanced 90nm process, the ultra-threaded 3D architecture is
optimized for Microsoft DirectX 9 and Shader Model 3.0, to deliver good performance to play all new PC games with cinematic quality. The
graphics technology also offers a 450 MHz engine and 256 MB 400 MHz memory (GDDR3).
Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 brings control, ease-of-use and more options for creative digital video editing with self-adjusting workspace, Avivo-video playback, 64 times as many colors than previous solutions for display functionality, and user-friendly high definition TV display connectivity.
According to company sources, the multimedia Center 9.12
is ATI’s award-winning multimedia software. Dual-tuner MulTView support allows time shifting on two TV tuners simultaneously, when paired with an ATI TV tuner card, including the Theater 550 Pro. All-In-Wonder 2006 PCI Express Edition supports Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, for an amazing home theater experience.
The North American version of All-In-Wonder 2006 for PCI Express
includes ATI TV tuner design for instant viewing of up to 125 channels
of cable or analog antenna broadcasts with FM broadcast reception;
Gemstar’s GuidePlus integrated program guide to view, search, schedule, and record TV programs at the click of a mouse; and unified
application for both analog and free over-the-air HDTV broadcasts (USA only) when combined with HDTV Wonder.
The European version of All-In-Wonder 2006 for PCI Express customers will include ATI TV tuner which receives 125 channels of cable or analog broadcasts; DVB-T and FM tuning capabilities; program guide support with TVTV for Analog TV and DVB-T programs; SCART (Syndicat des Constructeurs d’Appareils Radiorecepteurs et Televiseurs) connector for televisions; and multimedia Center 9.12 with a unified TV interface for both DVB-T digital and analog broadcasts.
As regards price of the product in India, Mike said, “That’s
something that strongly depends on the distribution and intermediary
trade, resp their margins. Our SRP is $179, but from European experiences it comes down to this price only after a few weeks. It’s sold for 10-50 percent more in the beginning.”
Optional features available from ATI.com include Remote Wonder Plus, a special offer included in the package for ATI’s third-generation radio-frequency remote control device, which has support for Windows XP Media Center Edition. For users who prefer a traditional Windows XP Media Center Edition remote control, a 50 percent reduction is included.
Earlier last year ATI Technologies set-up its largest R&D center
in Hyderabad, and has been recruiting high-calibre VLSI engineers. A lot of next-generation technology especially for hand-helds, is being designed out of Hyderabad.
ATI’s All-In-Wonder 2006 PCI Express Edition will soon be available in the country.
